Beauty Treatments You Can Make With Baking Soda

Baking soda is usually used during a holiday cookie rush or when you’re hit in the face with a funky smell every time you open the fridge. It has been a part of many medical, household and of course, beauty solutions. Also known as sodium bicarbonate, it has antifungal and antiseptic properties that gently exfoliates away the toughest calluses as well as tackles more smell. Discover the incredible uses of baking soda in your beauty routine.

As A Face Wash

Rough dead skin can be removed through exfoliation. It can also reveal a brighter and younger-looking skin. For a gentle antifungal face wash, combine 1 tbsp. baking soda and 1 tbsp. raw organic honey in your palm and rub together. Massage it gently in your face in a circular motion. Let it sit for a minute and then, rinse with warm water.

As An All-Over Scrub

Adding oatmeal would just be enough to have a nourishing and refreshing body exfoliator. Make a paste using 3 parts of baking soda and one part each of ground oatmeal and water. Gently rub it into the skin in a circular motion. It can exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. Use warm water in rinsing.

As A Prelude To A Manicure

Get some baking soda. Dip a small nail brush into it and scrub it gently under the nails and around the cuticles until clean. You may also try making a paste using 3 parts of baking soda and one part water. Rub it gently in a circular motion over the fingers and hands to exfoliate and smoothen.

To Soften Tough Calluses

In a basin of warm water, combine 1 tbsp. of baking soda and a few drops of lavender oil. After a long soak, scrub calluses away using 3 parts of baking soda and 1 part each of brown sugar and water. After doing so, apply a moisturizer and a warm towel foot wrap. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

To Remove Product Buildup

You can get rid of those extra build-ups that your styling products leave behind in your hair by sprinkling about a quarter size of baking soda into your palm together with your favorite shampoo. Shampoo as usual and then, rinse thoroughly. This will make your hair more manageable and cleaner.

As A Bath Soak

End your day with a relaxing bath soak. To neutralize the acid on your skin and help wash away oil and perspiration while your soak, combine water with ½ cup of baking soda. This works by soothing and softening the skin while calming irritants that the body brings to its surface as a result of skin irritation, mild sunburn or bites.

As A Deodorant

Mix 4 tbsp. of baking soda and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. Using a brush, apply the mixture to your underarms. To reapply it throughout the day, place it in an empty mineral makeup container and use a brush for a no-mess application.

To Whiten Your Teeth

Whiten your teeth by sprinkling baking soda into your palm and then dip your toothbrush into it and brush. Rinse and follow with your toothpaste. You can also make an antifungal mouthwash by mixing 1 tsp baking soda in a ¼ glass of water. Swiss the solution through your teeth.

As An Acne Spot-Treatment

Running out of your acne or drawing mask? Make a paste from baking soda and water. Apply it into the pimples like a spot treatment.
