At these present days, most people are unaware of GMO (genetically modified organisms) foods that are on the market. These foods are promoted as healthy and nutritious and its high time we put an end to this matter.

Such products are these chocolate spreads, particularly Nutella, wherein due to its powerful advertising, many are misled into believing that it is a healthy food. The truth is, it is actually packed with 4 GMO ingredients. Though this product has other healthy ingredients, only one that’s been genetically modified is enough to affect your health.

GMO are novel organisms created in a laboratory using genetic modification/engineering techniques. Scientists and consumer and environmental groups have cited many health and environmental risks with foods containing GMOs, such as infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system.


The Four GMO Ingredients In Chocolate Spreads Include:



Sugar


Sugar in this product is actually made of sugar beet. Aside from being inexpensive, this sugar is abundant in chemicals, such as pesticides, and is not the type of natural sugar that our body needs to properly function. What matters most to chocolate spread manufacturers is the price of this refined sugar despite knowing that this sugar is a known neurotoxin that crosses the blood barrier and destroys brain cells is disregarded. Refined sugars have been linked to depression, autism, anxiety, migraine, ADD, and ADHD.


Soy


For centuries, soy has been consumed by Asian civilizations. So how come that it becomes unhealthy? Soybeans in Asia are grown organically and are consumed in smaller amounts as opposed to the ones grown in western countries wherein soybean production is subjected to genetic engineering and is consumed in large quantities. Chocolate spreads contain soy lecithin, an emulsifier which has harmful and dangerous effects on our health. This ingredient has been linked to health problems such as thyroid depression, fatigue, late period, uncontrolled weight gain, premature puberty, and breast cancer.


Vanillin


Unnatural flavors are found in chocolate spreads. Vanillin, used in this product, is produced in factories in China. It is considered to be a potential health threat as it can make you addictive by stimulating the receptors in the brain and secreting serotonin, the hormone of happiness. Just like sugar, vanillin can destroy brain cells due to its neurotoxic properties.


Skim Milk


In reality, milk products, which are associated with images of cows grazing grass on green meadows, is completely different at all. What’s inside these chocolate spreads is a milk from cows fed on GMO corn and vitamin supplements. Antibiotics are also given to these animals to reduce costs. This totally leads to poor quality of milk. The milk we are talking here is odorless milk white liquid made of powdered milk. Bad cholesterol is abundant in powdered milk.
