Researchers Warn To Never Reboil Water Ever Again

Many people tend to forget their boiling water in their electric kettle. It’s simply because some of them are in the middle of something or their favorite TV show starts. What happens is that the perfect hot water becomes cold again and they will opt to turn the kettle back on and boil the water again. But do you know what will happen to water when it is boiled again?

When water boils, its composition changes, since its volatile compounds evaporate and gases dissolve. This makes boiled water safe for drinking.

The sad part is, when water is left boiled for a longer period of time or is reboiled, its chemical compounds change for the worst, thus accumulating many dangerous substances instead of eliminating all of them.

Boiling water again causes its compounds to accumulate which can increase the risk of consumption of certain chemicals such as nitrates, fluoride, and arsenic. Aside from this, healthy minerals can also become harmful when they accumulate. Just like calcium salts, which can lead to kidney stones and gallstones when taken in large quantities.

The Damaging Effects of Reboiled Water

Fluoride

Many types of research have been conducted on the controversial chemical fluoride and its presence in drinking water.

It’s a fact that fluoride is found in water and it potentially poses a risk to your health.

According to data from Harvard University obtained through 27 studies that were conducted over a period of 22 years, exposure to fluoride can have adverse effects on neurological and cognitive development in children.

These findings were issued by the Journal of Environment Health Sciences and concluded that fluoride in drinking water led to lower IQ in children.

Additionally, according to a more recent study, concluded in 2013, fluoride was also linked to lower fertility rates in male mice.

Arsenic

According to the World Health Organization, drinking-water poses the greatest threat to public health from arsenic.

Exposure to arsenic may cause arsenic intoxication, which can gradually develop physical effects throughout several years, depending on the level of exposure.

Some of the potential risks of arsenic intoxication involve cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal systems dysfunctions, diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, skin lesions, and even cancer.

Nitrates

Nitrates can be found all over the earth – soil, water, and air. However, it becomes highly dangerous if it is used as a food additive, like in meat, or if it is exposed to high heat, like boiling water.

Due to high temperature, nitrates transform into nitrosamines, which are carcinogenic.

It was found that nitrates are associated with different cancers like stomach, bladders, ovarian, colon, esophageal, and pancreatic cancer as well as many diseases such as leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
