Natural Foods That Help Detoxify The Liver And Speed Up Metabolism


There are certain types of food we must eat for us to be able to easily eliminate toxins and other foreign chemicals from our body we obtained from eating unhealthy foods. Charles Passler, DC, a New York-based nutritionist and founder of detox program Pure Change, says that:

“When your liver transforms fat and soluble toxins into their water-soluble form for excretion, it binds many of those toxins to bile so they can be escorted out of your body in bowel movements.”

Incorporate beets into your daily dishes. Try to roast them, throw them into a smoothie, glaze them, or add into your favorite soup.

Beets also contain fiber and Vitamin C, which both are natural cleansers for the digestive system.


Ginger


In the world of detoxification, ginger is the main contender. For thousands of years, ginger root has been used as a common ingredient in detox and cleansing recipes due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps remove the build-up of waste and toxins in the colon, liver, and other organs and then stimulates digestion, circulation, and sweating, which are your body’s three main avenues of natural detoxification.


Organic Apples


Due to its richness in fiber, apples are beneficial for the health of your liver and gut.

Passler added that:

“Apples, which contain lots of fiber, can help with cleaning out your bowels and introducing friendly bacteria.”

You can boost your fiber as well as nutrient intake by consuming apples together with its skin, or have it for breakfast with chis seed pudding.


Garlic


Consumption of fresh and organic garlic helps stimulate the liver and activate liver detox enzymes that help in breaking down toxins and eliminating them from the system to prevent them from reaching other organs of the body.

Allicin, garlic’s active component, has a potent antioxidant, antibiotic, and antifungal properties that are beneficial for the health of the liver. It helps kill unfriendly organisms in the intestines that produce toxins in the gastrointestinal tract. Try sneaking an extra clove or two into your weeknight dinner veggies or Caesar salad or add chopped garlic to soups, stews and pasta sauces.


Walnuts


Aside from its brain-boosting power, walnuts also keep the liver in good condition. Aside from this, they are also packed with omega-3 fatty acids and glutathione which both support natural liver cleansing.

Broccoli Sprouts
