Simple Home Remedies That Can Help Get Rid Of Dry Feet


Dry feet problems are simply common due to the fewer oil glands present in our feet. In addition to this, standing for too long, wearing poorly fitting shoes, weather conditions, skin cleanser, or some medical conditions also worsen the condition.

Luckily, there are certain natural ways to treat dry feet without spending a lot of money.


Foot Soak


Warm water can help soothe and loosen dry skin. Soaking our feet into it can help improve blood circulation to our feet thus preventing dry feet in the future. For those who have athletes’ foot, adding a small amount of vinegar to warm water can provide some help in disinfecting the feet and eliminating foot odor. It would also be a great idea to add oatmeal, honey, Epsom salts, peppermint essential oil or lemon juice into the foot soak.


Oil The Feet at Night


A mixture of 2 tsp each of olive oil, almond oil, and castor oil is a very simple formula of natural goodness. Massaging these oils on the feet at night can provide some help. Smear a lotion into cracks of the feet and then melt a candle in a saucepan on a gentle flame and carefully apply it into the skin using a flat brush.

Let this cool and dry. Wear cotton socks and cover. The next day in the morning, peel off from the skin and rub any remaining residue into the skin.


Exfoliate


This process involves removing dead surface-layer skin with the use of body brushes or foot scrubs. Foot scrub can be made at home by mixing sugar, honey, and warm water.


A Pumice Stone Or Foot File


Remove dry skin and calluses from the feet using a pumice stone or a metal foot file. To do this, simply soak the feet first in warm water and then wet the pumice stone or foot file and gently rub over the dead skin or callus in a circular motion. Rinse the dead skin off the feet, dry them with a clean towel, and moisturize the feet with oil, cream, or lotion.


Applying Some Aloe Vera Gel


This natural remedy can help soothe dry and dead skin. It works by healing cracks and ridges that have formed and increases collagen synthesis. Its softening action is mainly attributed to its amino acids.

Simply soak the feet in lukewarm water for a few minutes. Pat dry and apply aloe vera gel liberally on it. Wear socks and leave the gel on the feet overnight. For best results, repeat this every night for four to five days.


Provide Relief With Baking Soda


Baking soda is a commonly used exfoliant. It helps in removing dead cells and also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe the skin.

Fill two-thirds of the bucket with warm water and add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix well until the baking soda dissolves in the water. Soak the feet in this for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the feet from the soak and then scrub it gently with the pumice stone. Rinse with clean water. Do this twice a week to achieve the best results.
