Coconut Oil And Raw Honey: A Powerful Combo With Great Uses


Coconut oil and raw honey are super awesome for our health and skin. These two powerful ingredients simply blend with each other. Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of Lauric Acid, a saturated fat that is present in breast milk and is loaded with immunity-building properties while honey possesses anti-viral and anti-microbial and has the ability to soothe a cough and sore throat, reduce ulcer, and ease digestive problems.

Below are some beneficial uses the combination of coconut oil and honey.


Cough Remedy



Recipe # 1 - Coconut Oil With Honey


Coconut oil and honey, when combined with lemon juice, can create a powerful cough syrup that can help prevent cough and boost the immune system.

Ingredients:


  1. 2 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil
  2. 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  3. ¼ cup raw honey

Preparation:

First, we need to mix honey and lemon juice. Place the coconut oil in a saucepan using low heat. Add in the honey and lemon mix. Just leave it for a few seconds and remove the syrup from saucepan then pour it into a glass container.

Simply add 1-2 teaspoon of this syrup to hot water or tea for best results. It can help in soothing and healing illnesses of the respiratory tract.


Recipe #2: Coconut Oil Cough Drops


Raw honey, coconut oil, and lemon make an appearance once again, alongside cinnamon.

Yield: 20 to 25 cough drops

Active Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:


  1. ½ cup coconut oil, room temperature
  2. ½ cup raw honey
  3. 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Preparation:

Using a hand or stand mixer, whip coconut oil for 5 minutes. Add lemon juice, honey, and cinnamon and then continue whipping for 5 more minutes or until well combined.

Divide mixture into sections of an ice cube tray, filling each only ¼ to ½ full, depending on the size of the sections. Freeze for about 20 minutes. We can pop the cough drops out of the tray and store in a jar in the refrigerator. Simply dissolve one on the tongue to relieve a scratchy throat, as many times a day as needed.


Honey and Coconut DIY Moisturizing Mask


Ingredients:


  1. 1 Tbsp raw honey
  2. 1 Tbsp coconut oil

Directions:

Mix raw honey and coconut oil together until a sticky (well-mixed) texture is formed. It may seem thick at first, but the honey and coconut oil will actually warm up and soften on the face. Keep this DIY mask for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.


Bath Soak


Coconut oil acts as a gentle exfoliator and moisturizer to hydrate the skin (thanks to its vitamin content like A and C, as well as protein). Meanwhile, honey has natural antibacterial properties and also provides moisture to dry skin.

Preparation:

For this, all we have to do is simply add honey and coconut oil to our bathwater. Doing so will help hydrate and repair our skin. A few drops of lavender essential oils can also be added for more benefits.
