Natural Home Remedies That May Work Against Heel Pain


Heel pain is a common foot problem that we may experience if we injure or overuse our heels. It is usually mild, but it can become severe and sometimes disabling. Most of the time, pain is triggered by wearing flat shoes.

Here are some of the home remedies we can try against help pain:


Epsom Salt Bath


Having a warm Epsom salt bath can help soften our heels, reduce inflammation and swelling, and relieve heel spur pain. It works because it is magnesium sulfate. Magnesium is one of the most essential minerals for bone formation and utilizing calcium.

For this foot bath, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of Epsom salt in a tub of warm water and then soak the foot for 10 to 15 minutes., It is recommended to gently massage the heel to alleviate additional pressure and pain, and then dry it off and apply moisturizer. To achieve the best results, this foot salt bath must be done just before bed and be repeated daily as needed.


Massage


One simple and natural way of treating heel pain is by having a relaxing massage. Aside from providing relief from pain, a massage will also improve blood circulation, reduce stiffness, release the pressure, and relax the muscles.

The painful feet can be massaged at any time of the day using any kind of oil including olive, mustard, coconut, or sesame oil. To do this, we need to apply the warm oil of our choice in the affected area. Using both thumbs, apply some pressure on the painful area for a few minutes. Massage the sole of the foot for at least 10 minutes. Do this a few times a day for best results.


Ice


Quickly lessen heel numbness, soreness, and inflammation by simply placing an ice pack on the heels. In the absence of an ice pack, we can just wrap some ice cubes in a towel. Doing this can make the pain a little more bearable every day.


Freeze and Roll


This remedy will require us to freeze a small water bottle and then cover it using a towel. The arch of our foot should be placed on top of it and then slowly roll bottle beneath the arch of the foot for at least 5 minutes at a time. Switch sides and repeat for best results.


Shoe Inserts For Heel Pain


The shoes we are wearing might be having a minimal liner on the sole and this only means that it doesn't provide any support or cushioning. It would be better if we replace the liner with the right shoe insert (also called insoles, arch supports, or orthotics) that can provide the right support to lessen or alleviate the pain.
